ARPO joins IndiGO, Sahapedia for promoting Calicut's Heritage

At ARPO, we are consistently engaged in initiatives that bring India's rich cultural heritage to life for diverse audiences. We were recently delighted to partner with Sahapedia to offer a unique heritage experience for the InterGlobe Foundation and IndiGoReach teams in Kozhikode, Kerala, as part of their "My City My Heritage" campaign. This specially curated walk provided a deep dive into the glorious history and cultural legacy of the Zamorin era.

Attendees included members of the local community, government officials, media, and notably, senior leadership from IndiGo and InterGlobe Foundation, including IndiGo's Chief Executive Officer, Pieter Elbers and Rohini Bhatia, Chairperson, InterGlobe Foundation. Their participation highlighted a shared enthusiasm for cultural exploration and the importance of preserving these invaluable historical narratives.

The "My City My Heritage" campaign aims to promote awareness of India's heritage, acting as a catalyst for local citizens to connect with their surroundings. The Kozhikode edition, aptly themed "Zamorin's Trail: Exploring Kozhikode’s Glorious Heritage," offered participants a unique journey through the city’s vibrant past.

The walk was featured on the in-flight magazine of the IndiGO airlines

The walk, led by ARPO's Executive Director, Sruthin Lal, commenced from the historic Tali Shiva Temple and wound its way through significant landmarks including Palayam, SM Street (Mittai Theruvu), Kuttichira's ancient mosques, Gujarati Street, and the Big Bazaar Market. The route vividly showcased Kozhikode's enduring legacy of cosmopolitanism, religious harmony, governance, literature, and scholarship.

"Kozhikode, a prominent tourist destination, is distinguished by its rich cultural heritage... We remain dedicated to promoting tourism and showcasing Kozhikode's unique history, further solidifying our commitment to responsible corporate citizenship and community engagement by connecting people, places, and culture.” said IndiGO CEO Elbers.
