Launching Earthlore Band: A New Chapter for Indigenous Music

We are thrilled to unveil the Earthlore Band, a one-of-its-kind musical collective born from the heart of India's indigenous heritage. This is not merely a musician's group; it is a living, breathing testament to the enduring spirit, rich traditions, and profound connection to nature held by communities such as the Jenu Kuruba and Paniya of Kerala and Karnataka.

The Earthlore band is the culmination of a unique nine-month fellowship training program, supported by the Tata Trusts. This initiative represents a first-of-its-kind endeavour in India, empowering tribal musicians to step onto the global stage.

The professional-level artistry you will witness is the direct result of this rigorous program, in which band members were intensively mentored by some of the country's leading musical trainers and cultural preservation experts.

This mentorship blended indigenous language and traditional music with contemporary techniques. The training included collaboration with two professional musicians as co-fellows: an alumnus of the prestigious A.R. Rahman Music Conservatory and a leading handpan player in India, both now part of the band. This fusion of ancient roots and high-level professional guidance has forged Earthlore into the unique and powerful musical entity it is today.

What is Earthlore?

It is the sound of centuries, the wisdom of the forest, and the resilience of a people, all woven into an unforgettable musical experience. Our repertoire is a vibrant mix of life, culture, and deep reverence for the land.

It includes sacred ritual of worship honoring deities and ancestors; appealing for ancestral land preservation and reminding us of the forest’s precious life, where healing narratives unfold through rhythmic dance; celebrating joyful community transitions, and powerful histories of enduring strength amid suffering.

The current performance is one-and-a-half-hour-long.
